On Friday 23rd February, four of the Year 5 school councillors and Miss Cartwright went to Lewisham Town Hall in Catford to meet the Mayor of Lewisham, Steve Bullock and the young Mayor of Lewisham Laurelle Henry. We found out some facts about politics in Lewisham, so we know there are 54 councillors and 53 of them are Labour councillors. We also learnt that the three maces's that are used in ceremonial events are worth a total of over £200,000! We were able to ask the Mayor some questions and he made a point of saying that we asked some of the most difficult questions of the day! We were very impressed with the young mayor and her team and hope that before long we will be seeing former Elfrida pupils in politics.
