Estimating and measuring with cubes
On Friday, Year 3 had great fun selecting everyday items to estimate how many cubes they would measure. The children selected at least 5 different objects from around the classroom to first estimate the number of cubes they would measure, and then to actually measure them with the cubes. The children drew a grid to record their estimates and measurements. They all thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
They also had fun discussing what they might do if they were given £10. It was interesting to hear who would spend it all on themselves, or who would spend it or share it with others. There were those who decided they would save it.
Ask your child what they would do with £10 and see what they say.
Literacy - Our London Fact Files
The text Year3 are focussing on at the moment is, A Walk in London. Through this book they have learnt a lot about various famous landmarks in London: St James' Park, Westminster, Covent Garden, Buckingham Palace, to name a few. They used the facts they learnt about the different places to create their own London Fact files. A few examples of these are below:
