The Lewisham Pledge

Lewisham council and educators came together to begin the steps of tackling race equalities in our education system. On 22nd June (Windrush day 2021)- The Embedding Race equality Programme was launched in all schools across Lewisham.

How Elfrida have embraced the project

As a school we have taken on the project by:

• Signing the Lewisham Pledge.
• Informing parents of the pledge and the intent.
• Staff and pupils (ks2) completing the  Lewisham pledge questionnaire.
• Leading staff diversity and inclusivity INSET days/staff meetings.
• Reviewing our curriculum (EYFS-YR6).
• Introducing diversity sessions (Together as One) -run by our diversity lead teacher (KS2)
• Creating a diversity curriculum working party.
• Continuing to celebrate and embrace festivals and celebrations of our school community.
• Having half termly diversity assemblies (KS2).
• Adding a diverse collection of books into our literacy plans.
• Introducing a diverse library.
