24/6/21 Sycamore Sports Day

We received a letter from Safiya, a safari guide who needed our help. She could not find some of the safari animals on the reserve and asked if we could help her find them.

We got our binoculars ready and stepped into Kenya! It was boiling hot! cool

Although some of us were scared of the big, strong animals, we explored the safari reserve and as a class we were able to find all of the animals. Some of them we had never heard of before!

It was a lot of fun! laugh

💐🌷I Love the Flowers🌷💐

A joyful Spring song celebrating the simple pleasure that can be taken in appreciating the natural world, sung by Sycamore Class.

Chocolate Easter Nests

Sycamore thoroughly enjoyed making chocolate Easter nests before we broke up for the Easter holidays. laugh

I mean, who doesn't love a delicious chocolatey treat?heart

We had fun following a simple easy recipe that allowed us to practice our Maths skills of measuring and encouraged us to work as group.

It was so much fun we forgot to take many pictures, sorry!

The Wishgranter

We loved watching 'The Wishgranter' video below.

After watching the video we retold the story section by section and had some opportunities to act as well.

In each group one of us started off being the bored wishgranter. We thought about the characters feelings and how to show that in our facial expressions. When the man and womans wish was not granted they would have been sad and disappointed, the man who wished for money would have been very excited when he received it, and the man, woman and wishgranter would be cheerful and pleased when the man and womans wish was granted.

New Year 2 gate instructions

During lockdown, we had a lot of fun in the Year 2 bubble. We completed Joe Wicks exercises on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. We would also dance and enjoyed doing fun Go Noodle exercise routines. In pairs, we practiced spelling our high frequency words using foam letters, scrabble letters and play dough. It was good to see our fellow peers in Teams meetings online and we had a lot of fun during World Book Week. We used paint and our hands to create Cat in the Hat paintings. Miss Burton also read us the book The Cat in the Hat by Dr. Seuss.

Happy New Year!!

Happy New Year to you all and to your families.

Also, you will soon receive login information for your Microsoft Teams account where I will be setting you assignments for you to complete, which you can win points for if you try your best!

If you do not have access to a computer and require a printed home learning pack, please call the office or email our class email address, sycamore@kafed.org.uk , so that this can be organised for you.

Miss Burton heart

We had so much fun before breaking up for the Christmas holidays! All of Year 2 enjoyed playing PE games outside together, some with a Christmas twist!

Decorative Christmas hats were made for our Christmas dinner and we had an AWESOME Christmas party!

We danced, sang, ate, drank and played games like pass the parcel and pin the nose on Rudolph. It was a fantastic way to end the year with our Sycamore class family.

On Elf Day we had so much fun!!laugh

We sung and danced to Christmas songs, did our advent calendar, completed word-searches, coloured and did different activities across Year 2.

We thoroughly enjoyed playing a Grinch game with Mr Walker, making a reindeer craft and doing a Science experiment with Miss Burton. Santa Claus had sent Miss Burton a letter with instructions for the awesome Science experiment we did -  mini glitter explosions!!

It was a brilliant festive day smiley

More Acting The Great Fire of London!! - 11.12.20

We acted out the story of The Great Fire of London to help us retell it in our writing.

We pretended we were sleeping in bed when we awoke to the smell of fire!

Everyone was so shocked and scared.surprise

Historians believe the fire started because nobody checked the fire had been put in the bakery on Pudding Lane. Oh no!

Houses were built close together so the fire spread quickly.

The people passed buckets of water to try to put out the fire.

Terrified people escaped in boats on the River Thames.

The fire burned for 4 days!

14/11/2020 - We have been re-enacting the Great Fire of London

9/11/2020 - We played some awesome word games in phonics

3/11/2020 - We read and collected so many sounds today

2/11/20 - We were so quick at sorting phonemes!

Sycamore Class Story - Every Little Thing

As part of Diversity Awareness Month, we have been sharing our different cultures and looking at stories from other cultures. I, Miss Burton, chose to read the children a story that is related to my Jamaican background. Every Little Thing is adapted by Cedella Marley, daughter of Bob Marley. The story is based on Bob Marley's famous song, Three Little Birds. Sycamore Class enjoyed learning the chorus and singing along with me when telling the story.
We hope you enjoy it too!
