Eucalyptus - Year 1

Teacher: Miss O'Connor

Support Staff: Ms Loomes

Welcome back everyone! I hope you had a relaxing holiday and are ready for another learning packed term! This term our topic is 'Eat your Greens' so we will be doing investigations about where our food comes from and doing lots of healthy cooking. We will also be preparing for our sports day on the 25th May! Have a read and see what else we have in store for this term!

What better way to practice our measuring and reading as making delicious Hot cross buns!

We have been studying the rainforest! To teach us about the weather in rainforests, we made our own 'Rainforest in a bottle' terrariums. We can see the water cycle at work and the pistachio shells give it nutrients, so it is its own self sufficient ecosystem!

Here we go Eucalyptus, here is your riddle; What has a face and 2 hands but no arms and legs?

We have had a fantastic book week! We did an author focus on Julia Donaldson and looked at Monkey Puzzle, The Gruffalo and the Snail and the Whale. We did yoga and soundscapes for Monakey Puzzle and lots of acting and hotseating for the snail and the Whale. Eucalyptus class absolutely loved the visit from the wacky 'Wizard stories' men too. Check out our magical book character costumes!

PANCAKE DAY!!! We love pancake day! Keep you eyes peeled for our fantastic instructons to make your own at home!

Welcome back! We hope you have had a very merry break and ready for another fun and learning filled term! We have taken the New Year as a chance to think about all we have done in the past year, and theink about what we want to work on this year. Have a read of our resolutions!

We have been practicing and practicing our Nativity and we finally had the chance to show it off in front of an audience! We can't wait to show you tomorrow!

We had a fantastic time on our class trip to the Hornimans museum! We explored the museum and made our own puppets!

Thank you to everyone who brought in a pound for Children in Need, check out our super spotty outfits for the day!

Today we made rockets to visit the Hoctopize from the story "Toys in space" if you want to make your own, check out our instructions in the 'examples of our work' folder,
