Elfrida Primary School

Success for today; prepared for tomorrow. Nothing is beyond our reach.

Beech - Year 5

Here are some more pictures!

The children took part in a massaoke yesterday and had a wonderful time.

Well done to the children who kept their green cards this term!!

Beech class have been learning new sewing techniques and have been making cushions based on Ancient Greek designs.

Miss Corcoran has come in to show the children how to do it.

They have enjoyed designing and making their own cushions and will be bringing them home at the end of the term.

Even the boys were engaged, which is a pleasure to see!

Welcome back to the last half term of the summer!

Years 5 and 6 girls took part in a football tournament yesterday in Bellingham.

I would like to congratulate all of them for taking part and coming 3rd and 4th.

The girls have only had a few football practises and really stuck together as a team.

We are all extremely proud of them.

Well done girls!!!

Year 5 and 6 tournament in Bellingham

AT the start of this term, Year 5 visited the Hindu temple in Clarendon Rise, Lewisham.

The children behaved impeccably and listened to some facts about Hinduism and to stories that our guide told them.

They asked incredibly mature questions and showed the utmost respect whilst in the temple. They even met the Priest>

Well done Beech class, I am so proud of you all.

Our visit to the Hindu Temple in Lewisham

I have uploaded some pictures of our walk to the River Pool last term.

We had a great time and later went back to collect some muddy water to see which team could

separate it and find the cleanest water.

This term we are looking will be studying Ancient Greece and Democracy.

There is a very interesting  event coming up in July.

Please put this date in your diaries Wednesday 6th July.

The children will be taking part in an adventure challenge in Beckenham Place Park in the morning and having lunch there afterwards.

These challenges will allow the Year 5 children to improve group communication and build team resilience.

Each child that takes part will earn a medal.

The cost to enter this challenge is £5 per child, we are asking for £3 and our class will raise the rest of the money in school.

Please remember to sign the permission slips as soon as you can!

Beech class will also be having an assembly after the half term. I will keep you posted.

River walk to the River Pool

Welcome back!

Happy New Year to you all.

Beech class have come back this year and look like they have grown a few more inches!!

This term we will be focussing on rivers, both locally and in other countries. The children have already made up some poems about rivers, this has really pleased me because their use of similes, rhyming couplets, alliteration and powerful verbs has amazed myself, Miss Roberts and Mrs Cripps.

As the term goes on, we will be posting pictures of their art work onto the website too.

As you know, we will be having our last visit to Sedgehill next week. Beech class have enjoyed their time there and I am so proud of the fact that the teachers there have said what a fantastic class they are.

Please feel free to give them anymore materials that they could use for their junk models next Tuesday (12th January).
