On Friday 4th Mayor, the Year 5 school councillors went with Miss Cartwright to meet the mayor of Lewisham.  We were allowed to sit in the council chambers and we had to speak to 4 other Lewisham schools about what we would do if we were the Young Mayor for the day.

We then sat in the mayor's private parlour and we got to ask Steve Bullock some very difficult questions.  We asked about the potential closure of Lewisham Hospital, how he would ensure green spaces for children with the new building works in Lewisham, and how he was going to help prevent crimes in Bellingham.  Although he didn't really give us any straight answers we certainly made him think!  We clearly have some politicians in the making!
