Elfrida Primary School

Success for today; prepared for tomorrow. Nothing is beyond our reach.

Humanities week

June 27th to July 1st saw Elfrida celebrating Humanities in school.  The focus of the week was on History and Geography with each year group concentrating on a specific country.  There was a great deal of creative learning taking place, from Year 2 doing Aboriginal art to Reception making Brazilian flags, Year 1 doing Caribbean cookery and Year 5 creating Rangoli patterns.

The week began with a very exciting assembly with an amazing performance from Ali's dad on the drums as well as groups of children performing traditional dances and acts from their own countries.   On Friday  we were treated to a performance from some of the dancing students of Sedgehill who shared an American dance and helped us all learn some Bhangra moves!  At the end of the day on Friday, parents were invited in to see the work the children had done during the week.  Thank you to all the parents and carers who took up this invitation.  We finished the whole week with our international cafe.  Thanks to everyone who brought food to share and to Mary and Sarah in the kitchen for helping out too.

We had a great week, learning about other people, their histories and cultures.  Come in and ask us about it!
