  • Summer Fair

    Fri 15 Jul 2016

On July 15th we held our annual summer fair.  A great time was had by all who came.  Not only did we have a bouncy castle, but we also had a bouncy assault course, both of which were very popular!  We had farm animals from Surrey Docks farm, two DJs, a barbecue, face painting, tombolas, games, lucky dips as well as many more exciting things for both adults and children.  Thank you to everyone who came and supported the school.  Well done to Francis in Year 2, who won the I-pad in the raffle!  The number of balloons in the car was a staggering 154 and the winner will be contacted shortly.

A huge thank you to Iyare, Clare and Michelle who organised the whole event.  We are desperate for more parents to support the PTA as this was a huge job for so few people.  Please contact the school office if you would like to join our very dedicated PTA team.

  • Green Card reward

    Wed 13 Jul 2016

This week we have seen many rewards for those children who have managed to keep their card on green all term and all year.

Everyone who has kept their card green all year has been treated to a cinema trip.  This is a huge achievement and you should be very proud of yourselves if your card is always green.  It means that you never forget your PE kit, always complete your homework and Wow book on time and always make the right choices in class.

We also had green card rewards for children who had kept their card green this term. Ms Reid held a Massoake event for the children. There was dressing up, face painting, singing and picture taking.  The children (and the staff) had an amazing time!

Well done to everyone who earned themselves a reward.

Remember - if you want to do these fun things all you need to do is stay on green.

  • Wheels Day

    Wed 13 Jul 2016

Wednesday July 13th was Wheels Day at Elfrida.  We had invited anyone who wanted to, to bring their wheels to school.  Lots of children came in with bikes, heelies, scooters, and skates.  Everyone had to have a helmet - and what a good thing they did, as not everyone stayed upright for the whole session!  Each class had their own time in the playground thanks to the school council who had organised the whole event from the initial letter, the posters to the timetable!

A great day was had by all of the children.  What a way to exercise!

Thank you to all the parents and carers who put the safety of their child first and provided them with a helmet.

  • Chess Tournament at Elfrida

    Wed 06 Jul 2016
On Monday 4th July, Elfrida took part in a chess tournament between four schools; us, Turnham, Sandhurst Juniors and St James Hatcham. Our team played valiantly, but despite our best efforts the others were even better.  Well done to Ela, Robert, Ryan and Kanye for representing us.  They all had a great afternoon and earned themselves special medals too.
  • Humanities week

    Sun 03 Jul 2016

June 27th to July 1st saw Elfrida celebrating Humanities in school.  The focus of the week was on History and Geography with each year group concentrating on a specific country.  There was a great deal of creative learning taking place, from Year 2 doing Aboriginal art to Reception making Brazilian flags, Year 1 doing Caribbean cookery and Year 5 creating Rangoli patterns.

The week began with a very exciting assembly with an amazing performance from Ali's dad on the drums as well as groups of children performing traditional dances and acts from their own countries.   On Friday  we were treated to a performance from some of the dancing students of Sedgehill who shared an American dance and helped us all learn some Bhangra moves!  At the end of the day on Friday, parents were invited in to see the work the children had done during the week.  Thank you to all the parents and carers who took up this invitation.  We finished the whole week with our international cafe.  Thanks to everyone who brought food to share and to Mary and Sarah in the kitchen for helping out too.

We had a great week, learning about other people, their histories and cultures.  Come in and ask us about it!
