It's Fairtrade week at Elfrida this week.

We will be learning all about what Fairtrade is and how we all play a part in ensuring farmers from poorer countries get a fair price for their produce.

The children will be participating in a Fairtrade shop, a treasure hunt matching prices to different Fairtrade products, different in class activities and a Fairtrade café on Friday 21st October (everyone welcome at 2.30pm).

I have challenged the children to spot as many Fairtrade items in the supermarkets as they can so keep an eye out for the Fairtrade logo!!

THANK YOU!!!

A big thank you to everyone who came and supported Cedar class yesterday for our first class assembly as Year 1s.

Curriculum letter Autumn 1

Hello and welcome back!

I hope everyone has had a relaxing summer holiday. The children have come back looking great in perfect school uniform! Fantastic!

This week we have already started learning lots. In maths the children have learnt counting songs to 20 and 100. We have also been finding 1 more and 1 less than different numbers. Some children have even been matching numbers with amounts. In Literacy we have read the book 'My mum and dad make me laugh'. It's all about spots and stripes and from this I have seen some amazing spotty and stripy patterns. Keep up the great work everyone!

Important information

Homework is given out every Friday and needs to be completed and bought back in by the following Wednesday. The children will have a spelling quiz every Friday so please help your child to practice their spellings.

Please make sure children are reading their reading book to someone at home every night as we change the books daily.

The WOW book needs to be completed at least once a week (a picture and a bit of writing about the book). Help your child to think about their writing and not just copy from their reading books. I will collect WOW books every Thursday to check progress.

Our PE days are Tuesday and Wednesday so please make sure you send an appropriate PE kit into school.
