  • Trish Cooke visits!

    Wed 18 Oct 2017

On Wednesday 18th October Trish Cooke, the author of one of our favourite books, came to visit.  Trish wrote the story So Much which was illustrated by Helen Oxenbury.

She spoke to the children in Reception and Year one in their classrooms and then she spoke to all of the children in Key Stage one in the hall.  Trish read us all the story of So Much and explained that she had written it when her son was a baby and that the Mum in the story was actually her!

She told us that being a writer is a challenge and that you have to work hard at it, but that she loves it!

Some children were also lucky enough to get a signed copy of her book.

    What a great day!

  • Harvest Festival

    Fri 13 Oct 2017

On Friday 13th October the whole school celebrated Harvest Festival.  We held two special celebration assemblies and parents came to both of them.

No harvest celebration would be complete without a rousing chorus of Cauliflowers Fluffy and as usual, this ended or started our celebrations well.

Each class had something to perform, from artwork, to songs, to story telling.

We had a visit from Carol from the local food bank who explained where our donated food would go and who it would help in our local area.  A big thank you to everyone who brought in food to donate to others.  Your generosity was amazing.

The home journey children spent Thursday at Frylands Wood, on an amazing outdoor adventure!  The children spend the day on a variety of activities including the assault course, an orienteering challenge, the climbing wall and a laser tag game.  Growth Mindsets we're definitely needed as children faced new challenges, and everyone left feeling proud of something that they had achieved.

  • Home journey

    Tue 03 Oct 2017

Although they are not staying away from home, the Year 6 children who have remained in school have been having great fun this week as well.

On Monday they went to the cinema for their own private viewing of Captain Underpants (where they were allowed to sit in the cspecial comfy seats!) followed by some great British bake off style biscuit making! On Tuesday they headed to Greenwich for a cable car ride and an a visit to the Nissan innovation centre at the O2.  More excitement is planned for the remainder of the week, so they will all have new experiences to share with each other when they are reunited next Monday!

  • School Journey Day 2

    Tue 03 Oct 2017

Day 2 dawned bright and clear and after a good night's sleep the adventurers set off for a day walking along the cliffs.  Everyone is having a fantastic time!  They are eating well and enjoying the scenery - even if they are a little suspicious of the cows!

The afternoon allowed time for some fun on the beach in the sunshine. They even got to play in the sea!

  • School Journey Day 1

    Mon 02 Oct 2017

This morning 37 excited Year 6s and 4 brave members of staff left for a week's adventure in Swanage.

At 12.30 they had made it as far as Winchester and had stopped for lunch!  Everyone has been fantastic and a member of the public has already complimented them on their behaviour.  Well done team Elfrida!

They've all settled well into the centre and made their own beds.  Then it was off to the beach for some games.
