  • Year 6 Farewell Prom

    Wed 18 Jul 2018

On Tuesday July 17th the parents of Year 6 organised a farewell prom for the Year 6 children.  There was a red carpet, a disco, sweets and candy floss and a beautiful cake.

The children made a huge effort and looked amazing.  There was even a gift of flowers for one lucky partygoer!

A big thank you to all of the parents who helped put this together, especially to Lewis-Jae's Mum who made sure that it all happened and to Jay's Mum for getting the cake. Thanks to the PTFA as well for providing the tuck shop.

Good luck Year 6, we will miss you all.

  • Sports Day

    Wed 18 Jul 2018

What a great day we chose for our re scheduled sports day this year!  There was enough sun to make for a bright day, but enough cloud and wind to keep the heat lower than we have seen it recently.

The younger children took part in lots of different activities in the morning including hurdles, relays, sprints and egg and spoon races.  Everyone sat down for lunch together on the field at midday before the older children began their activities.  The long jump as ever, was very popular as was the three legged race which had people laughing uproariously all the way through!  A big thank you to the staff for their organisation and participation, especially to Miss Heat for her work behind the scenes and Mr Simms for keeping us all to time!  Thanks as well to the parents who came to support their children.

This would also not have been possible without the help and support of Sedgehill's PE department, Mr Barrett and his student team, so a big thank you to them as well.

  • Summer Fair Success

    Mon 16 Jul 2018

July 13th saw Elfrida hold their annual summer fair.  The weather was beautiful and the turn out was fantastic!  As usual the bouncy assault course was hugely popular as was the BBQ.  The raffle tickets sold like crazy and there were many lucky winners.  The less said about the sliming of Miss Cartwright the better!!

A huge thank you to the PTFA for all of their hard work in putting this together, especially to Clare and to Michelle.  Another big thank you to all of the staff whose efforts on the stalls ensured that the maximum fun was had by all.

  • Year 6 present Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

    Fri 13 Jul 2018
On July 12th, the Year 6 children performed Charlie and the Chocolate Factory in front of a huge audience of proud parents.  They performed at 9.45am and then came back for the final evening show at 6pm.  The acting was amazing - We expect to see Charlie on stage in the West End soon!  A big well done to the children who stepped into parts at the last minute in the evening show to make sure it ran smoothly.  The props, lights and music were expertly managed so a big well done to the back stage crew as well as the centre stage performers.  A huge thank you to all of the people that worked so hard to put this performance together, the children, the parents and the staff.
  • Reception and Year 1 go to the beach!

    Fri 13 Jul 2018

The sun shone and the sky was clear on the day that Reception and Year 1 went to Broadstairs.  What an adventure they had!  Train rides, paddling in the sea, building sandcastles and of course eating ice lollies in the sun.  Thank goodness it was a bit cooler at the coast.  Looking at the pictures, I am not sure who had more fun - the adults or the children!  Thank you to all of the parents for their support on the day and to all of the staff for their excellent organisation of the day!

  • United Nations of Elfrida Week

    Mon 02 Jul 2018

Last week saw every class in the school take on a different country and become experts in it! Each class sent delegates to other classes to share the information that they had learnt and we had out own United Nations meetings in the hall.  Key Stage one had a flag ceremony in the playground and then they all shared things they had learnt about their countries.  Cedar class came into the hall as a giant Chinese Dragon and performed a fan dance; we had a traditional poi dance from New Zealand as well as a beautiful French song amongst other performances.  In KS2, Beech class demonstrated how to have fun with the traditional pinata and created so much Mexican inspired art work they had to have their own exhibition! Redwood class performed a dance from Canada and Baobab shared facts they had learnt about Portugal to name just a few acts.

The week ended up with a cultural cafe, with many parents bringing in food to share.  The final event was a huge success with lots of people sharing and enjoying food from allover the world.

Thank you to all of the parents for their generosity with their food and to Mr McNulty for organising the week's activities.
