Wellbeing Wednesday

Good morning Alder class.  It's Wellbeing Wednesday again.

Below are some resources for your to use (if you have access to a printer).   Hope you enjoy them.

Lockdown Sports Day 2020

On the 19th May it was meant to be our Sports day. Unfortunately, we won’t get a chance to do this altogether this year. But why not bring Sports day into your household?  You could compete against your family- brothers, sisters, dad, mum, carers, grandparents.

There are certificates/rosettes attached below; however, you can make your own certificates/rosettes/trophy’s.

Please remember one thing. This is a fun activity and the main idea is to have FUN with your familyJ. The referee in charge of recording the points may deduct one point if you aren’t showing good sportsman ship. If there is an activity that isn’t your strong point- use your growth mindset and try your best. You could also use this as a learning curve to practise a particular activity a little more. All of these activities listed below will help with some form of PE skills e.g. strength, hand eye coordination, accuracy, speed, balance.

Whichever activities you choose to do, you will get an automatic point, as it is the participation that counts. You’ll also get a chance to win a bonus point. Record your points on a piece of paper or you can print off the table attached below.

  • Join us from home all day on Tuesday the 19th May 2020 for our Stay at Home Sport’s Day.
  • Take part in all the activities we have suggested in your gardens, living rooms, bedrooms and even your kitchens if you wish!
  • All you need to do is ensure you do is take part in the challenges and have fun with your family.
  • Please take photos of your day and post them on our twitter page @ElfridaSchool using the hashtag #StayAtHomeSportsDay and send them to me via Purple Mash and I will put them on our class page for everyone to see.
  • HAVE FUN AND ENJOY.

Hello Alder,

It's me again.

A very big well done to the following children: Monique, Ibrahim, Enzo, Abdu, Anjola, Janiece, Zahra and Imran.  All these children have been going on to the Emile website and completing the tasks I have been setting.

I would love  to see more of you logging on and doing the same.  Let's see if we can get many more people completing the tasks this week.

On Emile, you need to keep repeating the tasks  until you are getting around 80% correct (the green zone).  It is a great way to practice and improve your skills and knowledge.

If you have forgotten  or lost your login details or your details are not letting you in  please let  me know.  It could be you are using a tablet or a  phone, in which case, unless you have access to a laptop or PC, I don't think I will be able to sort it out.  Either way, please let me know if you cannot log in to Emile.

Looking forward to seeing more  of you completing the tasks.

New website: Literacy Planet

By now you should all have received your log in details for Literacy Planet by email in Purple Mash.  Can you please send me an email if you HAVE NOT received one with your details.

Looking forward to seeing you logging in and completing some of the activities.

The Big Maths Challenge

A M A Z I N G!!

Hello Alder,

What can I say other than FANTASTIC what an effort you put in.  20 children managed to do their Big Maths Challenges last week, meaning that Alder were the winning class.  Well  done, I am extremely  proud  of you.

Fingers crossed, we will win again this week - only you can make it happen.

Wellbeing Wednesday

Good morning Alder class.  Welcome back to Wellbeing Wednesday.

Below are some resources for your to use (if you have access to a printer).  These will be familiar to you as we used to do the wellbeing activities in class every Wednesday, or  sometimes on a Thursday with Mrs Darnell.  Hope you enjoy them.

Week Beginning 27th April

Email via Purple Mash

Tuesday 28th - I have noticed I have only been receiving emails via Purple Mash from a few pupils.  Can I please ask that you all log into Purple Mash and check to see whether you are receiving my emails.  You need to go into Computing. Then choose 2email. Hopefully, you will see the emails that I have sent.  There should be at 2 from yesterday and at least 3 from last week.  If you haven't already sent me an email via Purple Mash can you  please do so,letting me know which emails you have received or letting me know you haven't received any.

Thank you.

This morning (Mon 27th), I have set lots of new tasks in Purple Mash and Emile.  Please log in and start getting the work done.

I have noticed that many of you are struggling with answering the 3 star answers in First News.  These are the ones that require you to PEE.  In order to help you and give you some support and practice, I have put some resources on our class page to help you.  Please take a look at them and do the practice before your next reading comprehension.  I hope you find these useful.  I look forward to reading much more detailed answers in First News reading comprehensions.

I have also set you all a PE challenge for this week.  You will find a link to Alphabet Fitness Challenge.with all the PE links on our class page.  The challenge is to create your own 30 minute work out session using the alphabet challenges.  The session should be similar to a Joe Wicks work out with short bursts of activitiy followed by a short rest.  You need to try your workout session to see how easy/difficult it is.  When you are happy with your workout, send it in via email and I will put it on our class page so your class mates can have a go at trying out  your workout session.  I promise I will try them out too.

Please also send in photographs of any of your project/art work you have been doing.  I would like to be able to see what you have been doing and share it with the rest of the class too by putting it up in our class gallery on Alder class page.

I hope that will keep you all busy this week

Any questions, just email me via Purple Mash and I will do my best to help you.

Missing you all.

Stay safe

BIG MATHS

If you have been having problems with accessing Big Maths recently, it is not a problem with your

log in details.  There was a school related problem but this has now been sorted.  If you haven't yet logged on to do your Beat That challenges please do so today.  We want Alder class to be the winning class this week.  I can see that 16 people have already completed all 3 or at least some of their challenges.  Well done.  If you are one of thos 16 people, I am sending you a virtual high five.

Keep up the good work.

Week Beginning 20th April

First I would like to say how much I am missing you all.  I hope you are all safe and well, working hard, enjoying yourselves and, really importantly, behaving yourselves.

Who is up for a challenge?  Please, Please make sure you all go onto Big Maths once a week (every week) to complete your Beat That challenges.  Miss Fitch is going to be checking and announcing the winning class each week.  Guess what?......

I want it to be ALDER class EVERY WEEK!!

If you are having  problems logging onto Big Maths, let me know and I will do my best to sort it out for you.

In addition, Big Maths have made some CLIC parent packs which give you some practice exercises for the specific CLIC you are on.  After you have completed your CLIC challenge, make sure you are practicing the exercises for the questions you got wrong.  Hopefully, the next week you will get them all right!

Any problems, just email me via Purple Mash and I will do my best to help.

Do us all proud and make sure ALDER is the winning class.

Missing you Alder

Stay safe, stay happy

Looking for a creative challenge?

How about recreating paintings with things you can find at home?

Even though most of us are stuck at home during coronavirus quarantine and can’t go out and enjoy art in museums, that doesn’t mean that life has to be boring or uncultured. Here is a challenge to recreate your favourite works of art from the safety of your own homes. Below are some examples to get you inspired.

Please take photos of your creations and send post them on the Elfrida Facebook Page or Twitter if you can.  If not, send them in via the school email.  We will post them on the class pages for everyone to see.
