  • #JaiMatters 1st November

    Wed 30 Oct 2019

On Friday the 1st of November we will be holding our #JaiMatters Memorial day. On the day there will be a celebration of light, hope and remembrance where the children will reclaim the streets of Bellingham.

There will be a procession from Elfrida, leaving at 4.30pm where we invite all members of the community to walk with us through Bellingham shining positive light and spreading the message of peace and hope.

Meet us at Elfrida (or Athelney) from 4.15pm  We will be sharing out candles to light our procession towards Bellingham Green.  School staff will be on hand to support but children need to remain with their own families at this time.

We will all meet on Bellingham Green at 4.50pm where Mayor Egan and Rev Singh will share some words and we will join in with singing This little light of mine.

We will then walk towards Randlesdown Road and join together in a minutes silence at 5.22pm to remember Jai.

To end our community event we have been invited to Gateway Youth Centre for refreshments and music.

We would like to thank everyone who has worked to get this event organised, including our local Bellingham Police team, staff from Youth First, Phoenix Housing, Morleys and the staff from both Elfrida and Athelney Primary schools.

  • School Journey Day 4

    Thu 03 Oct 2019

It's a day trip to Corfe Castle today!  They are setting off on their long walk and then can relax on the steam train back!

There's lots to learn about Corfe castle!  Don't worry if they're not smiling, we are assured these are just their 'listening faces'!!

A slightly damp campfire ended the day!

  • Home Journey

    Wed 02 Oct 2019

The children who have not been on school journey this week have also been having an amazing time back home.  They have been making circuits with Mr Black and investigating how we can make circuits with fruit and vegetables and creating self portraits with Ms Hadjipetrou.

On Tuesday they went to see Aladdin at a private showing and then took part in a singing workshop, finishing up with a performance to Year 1.

Today the children have enjoyed an exciting swimming session at St Dunstans and then some mindful colouring in the afternoon.

Tomorrow they will be going to Bonus Pastor for a sporting session before having a chill day on Friday to get over all of the excitement!

  • School Journey Day 3

    Wed 02 Oct 2019

A beautiful clear day at Swanage today and the sun is shining!  A good walk to the kayaking centre and some boating fun will be on today's menu, but first a hearty breakfast!

Kayaking was a huge success.  What a brave bunch!

What a bunch of water babies we have.  Straight from kayaking into the swimming pool!

  • School Journey Day 2

    Tue 01 Oct 2019

    What a morning!

The rain did stop and the children finally made it to the beach!  A morning of discovering the history of Swanage, to be followed by a chance to catch some crabs this afternoon!

Crabs were tempted from the water this afternoon (and of course put back afterwards!) Much to the delight of everyone! There's even blue sky in the pictures if you look hard enough!
