Success for today; prepared for tomorrow. Nothing is beyond our reach.

Music

As you know, this week is Mental Health Awareness week.  You all know that physical exercise is really important for both your mental and physical wellbeing, but did you know that listening to music is too?  Listening to music when you are feeling sad, worried or upset, can really help to calm you down.

Below, you will find a link to a presentation that gives you three pieces of music to listen to each day.  They are all related in some way (the presentation tells you how they are related).

We would like you to take some time each day to listen to the 3 pieces of music.  Try to make sure you are somewhere where you are comfortable and will not be disturbed.  If you have them, listen to the music through ear or headphones so that you can block out other distractions and simply focus on the music.

Each day, as you listen to and focus on the music and think about the following - you can listen to the music as many times as you like:

  1. How does it make you feel?
  2. What does it make you think of?
  3. What images (if any) does it create in your mind?
  4. Which piece of music (out of the 3) do you like the best and why?

When you have finished listening and answered all the above questions on a piece of paper or on a Word document, send them in to your class teacher via the class email.

Finally, create a piece of abstract art inspired by the piece of music you liked best.  You can use absolutely anything to create your artwork - you can look at Ms Green's art page on the school website for inspiration as to what resources you could find at home to portray your creative ideas. Let's see how imaginative and creative you can be.  Take photographs of your artwork and email them via the class email.  I look forward to seeing what you produce.
